Some of the most frequent questions we are asked
about our self-catering cottages.
Is there anywhere to eat out within walking distance of the cottages?
Yes, the Badachro Inn is a very pleasant 10-15 minutes walk around the bay. A longer, 30 minute walk away, and under new ownership, the newly refurbished Shieldaig Lodge Hotel offers high end dining and a Bistro menu.
Do any walks start from the door?
Yes, there are many walks (short and long) where you will not need to use your car including the ‘Fairy Lochs’.
What are the parking facilities at the cottages?
We have a level tarmac yard which is private and enclosed and immediately adjacent to the cottages. There is room for 3 cars inside, with additional on road parking.
How far is the nearest grocery shop?
Gairloch has a selection of shops, including a deli, small supermarket, butcher and newsagents approx. 5 miles away (10mins drive).
Are pets allowed in the cottages?
Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement; terms and conditions apply. Please contact us to discuss.
What is the difference between the two cottages?
Very little really. The furnishings and decor are almost identical and of the same fresh, contemporary style. The internal layout of each semi-detached cottage is a mirror image of the other.
Is there room to store my bike, kayak, fishing rods etc?
We have outdoor storage racks for bikes and additional indoor storage if necessary in bad weather. Outdoor or lockable indoor storage for kayaks and other equipment is also available if required.
Do you provide maps and local information?
The cottages have a very comprehensive selection of tourist information, walk booklets, OS maps and a folder with useful hints and tips of places to visit and things to see.
Is there good TV reception/ mobile phone reception/ local WiFi?
The cottages have a free, fast speed WiFi internet connection. They have digital freeview flat screen LCD TVs and DVD player. Vodaphone and O2 provide the best mobile coverage. WiFi hot spots are also available at the Badachro Inn and many cafes and bars in Gairloch.
We have a purpose built drying room for those who enjoy the outdoors no matter the conditions, to ensure their kit is dry and ready to use the following day.
