Local gardens to visit
Badachro is blessed with some fabulous
local gardens and estates to visit.
Due to the effects of the Gulf stream, Wester Ross is fortunate to have a wealth of spectacular gardens, both public and private, that can be easily visited from your base in Badachro.
Inverewe Botanical Gardens at Poolewe, being the most famous, established by Osgood MacKenzie in 1862. Owned by the NTS, the gardens are immense and feature themed areas including a remarkable walled kitchen garden.
Across from the gardens, is the lovely Pinewood Trail which now links to the popular circular Kernsary Walk.
Just along from Poolewe, the Cottage Garden Nursery at Tournaig is delightful and sells very hardy coastal plants at a reasonable price.

Attadale Gardens at Lochcarron are privately owned and absolutely magnificently maintained. In June the blue meconopsis poppies are unbelievably beautiful.
The Scotland Gardens Scheme has several gardens which are open for charity at selected dates during the year. Local to Badachro are House of Gruinard, Dundonnell House and Applecross Walled Garden.
The acclaimed Attadale Gardens are worth a visit.
